Handful of Luvin’

Probably should have been one of my first posts…but given I have so many photos of this amazing band, I saved it for another time. I’ve mentioned them so many times now in other entries, that I figured it’s about time I get something up about them.

I discovered Handful on accident. I went to see Luc and the Lovington’s at the Hard Rock Cafe one summer evening in Seattle, when I heard someone say, “SANDY LAM?!?!” It was my dear friend Patrick Files, whom I had not seen for probably 5 years. We both grew up in the same neighborhood area but lost touch after high school, as most people do. It was quite the blessing to run into him again as we chatted it up. Turns out he was the bass player in Handful. I didn’t even know he played anything but the trumpet. The rest really is history….

…2011 was a great year for Handful according to Patrick, so I’m glad I was able to experience so much with them. From the Tractor Tavern to The Oregon Country Fair, to a private event at a winery…I’ve seen them so many times I’ve lost count. Fiddle driven gypsy rock. What is there not to love?

Originating in Bellingham, WA…Singer/Songwriter David John Wellnitz came together with the ever so talented Andrew Joslyn and the rest is history.

The best part: Our late night jam sessions in The Space. The area the boys practice and do some recording. Countless hours and good times spent there. I can’t think the boys enough for everything they’ve done. I’ve made some incredibly special friends.
