I’ve been compared to a mushroom, an awkward duck, and a garbage disposal. If you like cheese, we can be friends. Back in 2012, I started this blog because I quit my job as a communication consultant for the Washington State Department of Transportation and decided to open a new chapter of my life: making wine in Italy. I ended up in Turkey, England, Thailand, and India as well before returning home to the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Each adventure since then leans more and more into Type 2 fun. From Backpacking Patagonia, to Everest Base Camp in Tibet, to crewing on an engineless sail cargo ship in The North Sea. I currently work as the Community Engagement Director for The Center for Wooden Boats, a magical small nonprofit in Seattle focused on sharing maritime history and getting people out on the water. Check out my LinkedIn profile here!

This is a place where I document how I live my dreams and follow my passions. Whether it’s bushwhacking in the mountains, capturing life’s precious moments or trying exotic new foods, I try to make time to share them with you here. My problem is that I tend to experience so much there’s a huge backlog of entries to be written. Either way, I hope you enjoy what you find here and don’t be shy to leave a comment or feedback!

Dedications

Each portion of this blog is dedicated to the incredible human beings that have shaped me to be who I am now.

Photography – is dedicated to my parents because they were the first ones to give me my first camera. It was an old Disney Mickey Mouse film camera and I would constantly go through rolls of film. And without them, I wouldn’t be alive today.

Food – is dedicated in memory of Professor Scott Silver. He is the sole reason why I started documenting my restaurant critiques. He always wanted me to have a food column called “Restaurants on the Lam(b)”. Scott was a shining example of positive encouragement even in the face of life’s most challenging moments.

Music – is dedicated to my dear friend Patrick Files. My favorite human being in the world. Hands down. Words really can’t express how much he’s changed my life.

Travel – is dedicated in memory of Jim Hartle. “Play hard and play a lot and then work hard so you can play again.” That was Jim’s motto. It took me a while to finally build up the courage to leave the country, but Jim was the start of it. I bring his memory with me in all of my travels and hope that I can carry a fraction of the charisma he had.

Hiking – is dedicated to all of the outstanding outdoorsmen in my life. Joe Sarr, Chris DeSisto, Bill Jordan, Kevin Hood. Without you, I would still be huddled in a tent or eaten by a bear. These are some of the most respectable men I know who shared some incredible adventures in the outdoors.

This entire site – is dedicated to my high school english teacher Steve Kelly. If I had to choose a point in time in my life where I was changed forever, it would’ve been during my time spent with him. If you’re familiar with the book Tuesdays with Morrie, just imagine Mr. Kelly as my Morrie. Mr. Kelly provided me with support, confidence, and inspiration. I thank him for helping me find my passion for life and showing me the gift of living with an open heart.

Special thanks to my friends Jamie Severson who created my photography logo and Matt Hart for helping me get my site pieced together.
